Frequently asked questions
What does imapsync.cc copy?
Every message in every folder of the source mailbox, including attachments, read/unread and flagged status and the message dates. Folders are created on the destination automatically. Contacts and calendars are not part of IMAP and are not copied.
Will a second run create duplicates?
No. imapsync identifies messages by their Message-ID and headers, so running the sync again only copies new messages and updates flags. You can resync as often as you like during your pass.
How much does it cost?
The connection check and the folder size report are free. A 24-hour pass costs 5 USD for up to 3 mailbox accounts, 15 USD for up to 10 and 25 USD for up to 25, with unlimited syncs and resyncs in both directions. Taxes are included. Jobs still running when the pass ends are stopped.
What counts as a mailbox account?
One account is one source mailbox copied to one destination mailbox, for example old@provider.com to you@new-server.com. Syncing the same pair back in the other direction does not count again.
Can I add more accounts during my pass?
Yes. When your pass is full you can buy another pass at any time: its accounts are added to your current pass and the 24-hour window starts again. Up to 5 accounts sync at the same time.
Are my passwords stored?
No. Passwords are sent over HTTPS, kept only in memory and in a temporary file readable by the sync process, and deleted as soon as the job ends. They are masked in all logs. Logs are deleted when your pass ends.
Can I migrate Gmail or Microsoft 365?
Yes. Choose the Gmail or Microsoft 365 preset for the right folder mapping. Gmail needs IMAP enabled and an app password. Microsoft 365 must allow IMAP for the mailbox; accounts that only allow modern authentication (OAuth2) cannot log in with a password.
Can I pause a sync and continue later?
Yes. Click Pause at any time and Continue whenever you like during your pass. imapsync carries on where it stopped; emails that are already on the destination are never copied twice.
Is it a problem to sync thousands of emails at once?
No. imapsync copies one message after the other over a single connection per mailbox, and nothing is sent by email, so no spam blacklist is involved. We also limit how many syncs run at the same time to each provider and slow down after failed logins. If a provider such as Gmail applies its daily transfer limit, the job stops with a clear message; click Continue later and only the missing emails are copied.
Can I close the browser while the sync runs?
Yes. The sync runs on our server, not in your browser. Open imapsync.cc again in the same browser, or restore your pass with the access code, to see the live progress.
How do I sync back in the other direction?
Click Swap direction. Source and destination change places and the next run copies messages back. Swapping direction does not use another account of your pass.
